Overview
This configuration option prevents members from signing up or updating their profiles using a phone number already associated with an existing client record, within the same corporate entity. This measure is designed to address scenarios where members might attempt to register under different email addresses but reuse the same phone number, thus circumventing membership restrictions. The feature can be toggled on or off by business users, providing them with control over client registration policies.
Use Scenario
A client with a membership at one location cancels to sign up at a new, nearby location on an early bird membership price. They do this by creating a profile with a different email address but the same phone number.
Prior to this update the system only prevented reuse of email addresses during new client record creation. To counter this, the new feature ensures that a phone number already registered within the corporate entity cannot be reused during a new sign-up or profile update.
How to enable this feature
- Login to your Core Account via core.hapana.com
- Navigate to Account Settings > Configurations > Business Profile.
- Select Yes or No according to your desired setup.
- Yes: The system will prevent new client records from being created with an existing phone number, similar to the existing email check.
- No: Phone numbers can be reused across client records without restriction.
This client database check will be implemented across the following systems:
- Sign Ups via the app, kiosk, and embedded widgets.
- Profile edits in the app, kiosk, and embedded widgets.
- Profile creation in Core
If the phone number already exists, the system will display a warning: “Phone number already in use,” and prevent the creation or update of the client record.
