Overview
Clients can now use different payment methods for membership recurring charges and one-time “Pay Today” charges, during checkout. This guide explains how the checkout flow works and why it makes the process smoother.
Before you can implement Multiple Payment Methods
- You need to submit a request to [email protected] to have your Client App updated and for this feature to be activated in the Hapana Admin backend.
- Once confirmation has been received, from the Hapana Support Team, that the backend has been configured you can follow the below step by step instructions.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Enable Multiple Payment Methods in Retail Settings
- Login to Core
- Navigate to Payments > Retail Configuration > Retail Settings
- Scroll down to 'Payment Method Settings'
- Click the pencil icon to edit and select 'On'.
Configure the Preferred Payment Methods for Recurring versus One Time Payments
- Initiate a New Sales either via Core or the App.
- Select the desired Membership and Client to be attached to the sale.
- Proceed to Checkout
- Once in the Checkout screen, scroll to the Payment Method section.
- Under Recurring Payment, select an existing stored payment method or add a new one.
- This method will be used for all future automated membership payments.
- Under Pay Today, select a payment method for the initial signup fee or first payment.
- You can use the same as the recurring method or a different one.
Note: If you want the “Pay Today” method saved to the Wallet, check the box Save for Future Use before submitting. If left unchecked, it will only be used for this one transaction.
Complete the Checkout
- Review and confirm the selected methods.
- Submit the payment.
The system will enforce the correct method for each payment type — no mix-ups!
Expected Outcome
After following these steps, clients will:
• Successfully assign different payment methods for recurring vs. one-time charges
• Store a new payment method if desired
• Experience a faster and more accurate checkout process
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Q: Do I have to use two different methods?
A: No, you can use the same method for both Recurring and Pay Today if you prefer.
Q: Can I save both methods to my Wallet?
A: The Recurring method is automatically linked; the Pay Today method can be optionally saved.
Q: What if my Recurring method fails later?
A: Clients can update their stored Wallet payment methods anytime in the app under Billing Information.
