Overview

This guide shows you how to add a GIF to your email in Grow. Including GIFs in your emails can help grab attention, make your message more engaging, and give your brand a bit more personality. Whether you're sending out a promo, a challenge invite, or a welcome email, a well-placed GIF can boost clicks and client interest.

Perfect for fitness business owners or marketers who want to level up their emails with simple, fun visuals.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • Access to Grow
  • An existing or new Email Campaign or Automation Email
  • A direct link to a GIF link from your GROW media library.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Open your email editor

  1. From the Grow dashboard, go to Marketing.

  2. Open the email or email template you would like to insert the GIF into

Tip: You can add a GIF to a new or existing email or template.

2. Add an image block

  1. In the email builder, drag the Image element from the sidebar into your email layout.

  2. Drop it where you want the GIF to appear.

3.1 Insert your GIF (File hosted on GROW)

  1. Click on the image block and select the pencil from the edit window on the left.

  2. Select ”Upload from media library”.

  3. Select any GIF in your media library up to 10MB.

3.2 Insert your GIF (Externally Hosted)

  1. Click on the image block and select the pencil from the edit window on the left.
  2. Paste your external GIF image into the Image URL field. Your direct GIF link (must end in .gif).
    • Example: https://media.giphy.com/media/abc123xyz/giphy.gif

Tip: Make sure you’re using the direct link to the image file. If you paste a page link, it won’t work.

4. Resize and align (optional)

  1. Adjust the Width field if needed to fit your email layout.
  2. Use the alignment tools to place it left, center, or right depending on your design.

Expected outcome

After saving your email, your GIF will appear right where you placed it. When clients receive the email, the GIF will auto-play in most email clients, making your content stand out and feel more interactive.

Troubleshooting / FAQs

Q: Why isn’t my GIF showing in the email preview?

A: Double-check that your URL ends in .gif and points directly to the image file—not a webpage.

Q: Will the GIF autoplay for all recipients?

A: Most Email Service Providers (ESPs) support autoplaying GIFs, but some may only show the first frame. Keep your message clear even without motion.
