Overview
This guide explains how read and unread messages work in GROW’s Conversations tab, and why they don’t change automatically. If you or your team are managing SMS, email, or social replies in GROW, knowing how to manually mark a message as “read” helps avoid confusion and keeps your inbox clean.
Prerequisites
Before you begin:
- You must have access to the Conversations tab in GROW
- You should already have at least one unread message in your inbox
Step 1: Understand how unread messages work
Unread messages in GROW are not automatically marked as read when you open them. This gives your team more control — especially when multiple users are managing communications.
Tip: This is useful for studio teams where one person reads messages, but someone else is responsible for replying.
Step 2: Manually mark messages as read
-
Go to the Conversations tab in the left-hand menu.
-
Look for messages marked with a blue dot — this means they are unread.
-
To mark a conversation as read:
-
Click the open envelope icon above the message preview
-
Navigate to “All” to view all messages when all conversations are marked as read.
-
Tip: You can also do this inside an open conversation if needed.
Expected outcome
Once you manually mark a message as read, the blue unread indicator disappears. This helps your team stay organized and ensures no messages are mistakenly left behind.
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Q: Why doesn’t a message get marked as read when I open it?
A: GROW is designed this way on purpose — it lets teams manually control when messages are cleared.
Q: Can I mark multiple messages as read at once?
A: No. Each conversation must be marked individually.
Q: Can other team members see if I marked a message as read?
A: No. Read/unread status is currently shared across the team, but it doesn’t track who made the change.
