Overview
This guide shows you how to import contacts into GROW using a CSV file. You’ll learn how to upload your file, map the fields, confirm your data, and—if needed—import Opportunities at the same time.
Perfect if you're moving from another CRM, onboarding leads, or launching a new campaign.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure:
- You have Admin access to GROW
- Your file is in .csv format (no Excel or Google Sheets)
- File size is under 30MB (split it up if needed)
- The CSV has just one tab
- The first row contains headers, and at least one header matches a GROW field

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Go to the Contacts tab
Click the Import Contacts button from the navigation toolbox.
Step 2: Choose what to import
Select if you're importing just Contacts or both Contacts and Opportunities.
Step 3: Upload your CSV file
Click Next, upload your .csv file, and select the right import type:
- Add new contacts
- Or Update existing contacts
Step 4: Map columns to fields
Make sure each column in your file is matched to a field in GROW.
- Check Don’t update empty values to protect existing data
- Leave fields unmapped if you don’t need them—just tick the box to move on
- All mandatory fields must be mapped
Step 5: Verify and finalize
Before importing, double-check:
- Your field mappings
- Any tags or workflows you want applied to these specific contacts
- Custom field assignments
Optional actions:
- Create a SmartList
- Add contacts to a workflow
- Tag imported contacts for segmentation
Monitor import status
Track your import under Bulk Actions.
- Click Show Stats to see your import summary
- Download the error log from the Error tab if anything goes wrong
Expected outcome
Once you complete the steps, your contacts (and opportunities if selected) will be added to GROW. You’ll see them in your Contact list, tagged, sorted, and ready for automation.
FAQs
Q: Can I import without email or phone?
Yes—as long as you have at least one of these: name, email, or phone.
Q: Can I skip some CSV columns?
Yes—just leave them unmapped when matching fields.
Q: Can I update existing contacts?
Absolutely. Choose Update or Create and Update, and match using Contact ID or Email.
Q: Where can I view previous imports?
Check your import history in Bulk Actions.
