Prerequisites

Before you begin:

  • You must have admin access to Account Settings
  • Your team role must have permission to access the cash drawer
  • The cash drawer setting must be enabled in your configuration

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Enable the cash drawer feature

  1. Click your Location Name
  2. Go to Account Settings > Configurations
  3. Scroll to Enable Cash Drawer
  4. Toggle it to Yes
  5. Click Save

Tip: This unlocks the drawer tool across your payments and POS screens.

Step 2: Grant access to the cash drawer for team members

  1. Go to Team Settings
  2. Select a Team Access Group
  3. Find the setting called Enable access to cash drawer
  4. Turn it on and Save

Note: Only team members with this permission will be able to open or close the drawer.

Step 3: Open a cash drawer

  1. Go to Payments > Cash Drawer
  2. Click Open Drawer
  3. Enter your starting cash amount (e.g., $500)
  4. Click Open

Tip: You can leave the drawer open for the whole day or even a full week — it’s up to your reporting preferences.

Step 4: Track sales and close the drawer

  1. Process cash transactions through New Sale
    • Add a product or service
    • Choose a client
    • Select Cash as the payment method
    • Click Confirm
  2. Go back to Cash Drawer
  3. You’ll now see each sale logged, along with your running cash total
  4. When you're ready, click Close Drawer, enter the closing amount, and finalize

Example: If you sold a t-shirt for $20, you’ll see it listed and reflected in your expected cash total.

Expected outcome

By following these steps, you’ll have a properly tracked and balanced cash drawer, which will help you reconcile daily or weekly front desk sales with confidence.
